Being a Beijinger

I've always been interested in places and people. Especially how the two are interlinked and can affect one another. Seeing as I will be living in one of the world's most populated cities for the next two months, I wanted to take the opportunity to explore and understand life here and the people that make Beijing what it is today. I'd like to discuss how things have changed - and how people think they will change.

To do so, I'll look at Beijing and the different roles that people play within it to keep it functioning the way it does. I've taken four stages of living in Beijing: arriving, living, working and moving on to encapsulate life here. As my time in Beijing progresses, I'll give my Mandarin a run for its money and (attempt to) make friends and interview people playing different roles within the city, then post their stories here.
