About Me

My interest in travel stems from being a language-lover, communicating with different people, learning about different societies, as well as past travel experiences. A turtle conservation and teaching project I did in Kosgoda, Sri Lanka 2014 was the first time my eyes were opened to life on the other side of the world and fuelled my desire to connect with different people. This way I could learn from them, their ways of life and their opinions to help formulate mine. So, I started this blog as a way of combining my passions for languages, culture, people, travel, and a bit of mindful thinking.

Most of my adventures so far took place on my year abroad. In August 2016 I studied Mandarin at Fudan University in Shanghai, China for 5 months with the Confucius Institute scholarship. I took the opportunity to travel to the Philippines, Hong Kong and across China during this time. I then continued studying in Erlangen, Germany during the summer semester, visiting Belgium, Czech Republic and Austria, and finished with a 4-week intensive course in Tours, France in August 2017.

I graduated from the University of Birmingham in July 2018 with a BA Modern Languages degree (French, German and Beginners Mandarin), and am now looking for the next step! I was fortunate enough to be granted the Graduate Travel Scholarship 2018 by the University of Birmingham to help fund my return to China in October – December 2018. Here I aim to continue studying Mandarin, have a taste of working in the tourism industry, begin this blog and see where the experience takes me!
